Bob, the little kid across the street!

Created by Kathleen Rosson 16 years ago
Bob and the family moved across the street from us Rossons when I was 12 or 13 - so Bob must have been around 9 or 10? (I don't know, but Eileen and I started smoking when I was 13). We hung out together, did all kinds of bad kid things together (Halloween comes to mind). We had a blast. Tucker Avenue kids sort of grew apart during high school (I guess it wasn't cool to know each other walking down McLean High hallways). But many years later, my dad was in the hospital with a broken neck, and the doctor told us he'd have to have a halo brace screwed into his skull - then in walked this guy who looked so familiar. A split second later, the whole family realized - Holy Cow, its Bob! Well, I think my dad was the most surprised. He said, hey is this the little kid across the street - he's gonna screw this thing into my head! Are you kidding me! Anyway, that's how I'll remember Bob. The kid who screwed with my dad's head!
